This is more frustrating since fingerprint and Edge both work on my admin account but not on my user account.

Your "Troubleshoot problems opening the Start menu or Cortana" page on MS support page to no avail. I have also followed all of the instructions on I have followed the other instructions on Windows support to run scannow use the start menu fixer and other commands to no avail. Scanned for viruses and is up to date with MS and Lenovo updates. This problem with Edge (and also sometimes Cortana, Store, and Notifications) opening and closing has been a frustrating ongoing problem since I first installed Win 10 over a year ago, and now I have the same problem, even though my computer is regularly However, now Edge opens and immediately closes and when I click on Setup Windows hello in the sign in options screen, the window to set it up opens for a second and then closes immediately.

I have a Lenovo T440s with the latest drivers and I followed the uninstall-reinstall suggestions above. I cannot setup Windows Hello, either on my user account. I believe this is the same way it appeared, before I reinstalled Windows.ĭoes anyone have any suggestions I can try? Happy to gather more details if needed for further troubleshooting. To be correct, because it is registered properly under "Biometric devices" as "Validity Sensors (WBF) (PID=0050)" in the Device Manager. Fujitsu just says that their driver is Windows 10 compatible, which seems None of these have had any effect at all. I've even tried uninstalling and reinstalling the fingerprint scanner driver. I have tried it many, many times and restarted the computer. But as with the other aspects of this, that is unchanged since before I reinstalled Windows.Ĭlose Windows Hello, and then try going through the setup again. I don't think it matters for the login security, but this computer is part of an AD domain connecting to servers running Windows Server 2012 R2. In doing that, while those problems do indeed seem to all be solved, the fingerprint hardware with the same driversĪnd same Windows Hello that worked before the reinstall now crashes every time I try to registry fingerprints. However, I recently re-installed Windows from scratch to clean up a few issues that nobody seemed to have a good handle on the root cause.

That was the main aspect of this that I wanted working.

That software is not compatible with Windows 10, so after I performed an upgrade from 8.1 toġ0, Omnipass no longer worked. But that was OK, because the fingerprint reader worked fine with Window Hello to at least let me log in to Windows. It originally shipped with Windows 8.1, which worked great with Omnipass software. I have a Fujitsu T904 convertible notebook/tablet with a fingerprint scanner.
